Message from Isabella Lenarduzzi, Founder of JUMP

To all participants of the JUMP Forum: Thank you all very much for having answered our questionnaire! You will find a lot of new photos of the conference on the site of the Forum. The feed back you gave us was encouraging: 90% of you believe that it is important and necessary to organize an event which is focussing on the professional life of women, 65% said that the Forum fully met their expectations and needs, and 35% said this was the case partially. These positive results led us to daring a new step: We decided to organize workshops and training sessions on a regular basis, all year long, at reasonable prices, tackling diverse subjects ranging from: How to draw up a financial plan… to.. Effective organization of family life. In short, the content of the workshops will reflect your own personality, interests and activities, as well as your ability to multitask! Today, I have the pleasure to announce the launch of JUMP Women´s Academy! The first workshop will take place on September 4, and is aiming at professional women who want to enhance their or their firm´s visibility in the media. Our expert will be Madeleine Dembour of UWE (Union Wallonne des Entreprises). Future seminars will also be offered in English and Dutch. We will inform you about the programme very soon. If you have any suggestions with regards to the programme, please forward them to us.

Solving the supply issues for women in top positions

Source: Mirella Visser in www.europeanpwn.net

Mirella Visser, President of the European Professional Women’s Network, gives her view on the “perceived lack of supply” with regards to women board candidates. In her editorial article of May 2008 “Solving the supply issues for women in top positions” she states that… “Common perceptions about what board members ‘look like’ may hinder companies from recognising and validating the talent in front of them.” The good news: there are already initiatives to promote women candidates.

Networking makes the world go around

Source: Mirella Visser on www.europeanpwn.net

There are as many definitions of networking as there are networkers and even more opinions about the value of networking. Some of us start running for the door when the word comes up, expecting aggressive selling and overwhelming promotions of less than average products by people with more than average ‘flux de bouche’. After all, if you or your product is that good, you don’t need to sell them because people will actually come up and hire you or buy your product just like that. So why network? Right?
